The tour Etna begins at the hotel were you will be picked up and be met by the driver who will drive you through the whole tour. Volcano Etna, at approximately 3350 meters, it is Europe’s highest active volcano, which dominates the island of Sicily and its 3 surrounding seas. Along the way of tour Sicilia Etna leading to the volcano, we will see luxuriant vegetation with the presence of chestnut trees, birches, pines surrounded by black lava fields. The first stop of tour is at Zafferana, you will have the opportunity to visit the church of Saint Mary of Providence built in 1731 and partially destroyed by the earthquake of 1984, which remained closed for thirteen years. We will then visit the Silvestri Craters which are located at about 2000m above sea level and have origins of 1892, this was a strong and long eruption which began on the 9th of July and ended on the 19th of December and caused a rift from 2025 m and came down to 1800 m of altitude. It originated a lava flow that reached 7 km in length with several roots. You can have option to continue to go higher up by means of cable then by jeep, this is a fee extra which can be up to the individual on the day. There is a box office to buy tickets. This can take you up to 2900m.This route has a duration of two and half hours and if you decide to do so the overall time for the excursion will be greater.
After this amazing part tour Etna return to Zafferana “the City of Honey”, we stop at a beautiful place where they produce honey and taste the precious nectar made by skilled hands and also other products such as wine and local oil and conserve produced by them. At the end of tour Etna we proceed to one of the most important winery in the area for wine tasting and also their typical products produced by them. By that time we are ready to return back to the hotel, a relaxing journey back admiring the views.
